Butterflies have somehow become a symbol of hope after death. They are often watercolored on those little programs at the funeral or stamped on a memory plaque.
Butterflies live about 1 week.
If they are lucky, they drop dead at 2 weeks. But often, before that, they end up on my windshield. Or in the belly of some scraggly bird.
Don’t let the painted wings fool you, it is just a flying insect- likely dead tomorrow.
